INDEX
Maximillian William presents INDEX, a programme examining the relationship between writing and art-making. Conceived as an intermission between exhibitions, INDEX brings together artists who write and writers with an affinity for working beyond the page, offering a space for dialogues between disciplines and for constellations of cross-pollination. Throughout February, events will take place within the gallery, including talks, readings and performances, which will unfold editorially around themes and prompts.
INDEX is both a list of references, paying respect to writerly inspirations, and a point, gesture or signal outward. Responding to the increased centering of writing within contemporary artists’ practices, INDEX is an invitation to summon a community, and a provocation to think about language in new ways.
